Tennis - Small Sound

The Denver-based indie pop husband-and-wife couple of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley -- aka Tennis -- create the type of songs that walk the fine line between indie guitar-jangling melodies and twee-leaning, self-described "minimalist" pop. Following up two well-received albums, 2011's Cape Dory and last year's Young and Old (produced by The Black Keys' Patrick Carney), Moore and Riley (and drummer James Barone) will release a new EP Small Sound on November 5 via the sharp-eared tastemakers at Communion. Lead single "Mean Streets" is a sweetly swaying, sugar-frosted slice of nostalgic slow-dance pop redeemed by Moore's nicely nuanced vocals and happily lo-fi production. Click through below to stream "My Better Self" from Young and Old, an album The New Yorker praised as "winsome as it is ebullient."
